When you have found a piece that you are interested in, don't just visually look at the furniture, inspect it. You want to be sure that the bedroom furniture is made of real wood and not just finished to look like the type of wood it is advertised as. It should be made of solid wood. Of woods, the best woods that wear the best and resist marring and scratching are maple, oak and birch. Also, inspect the drawers. The drawers on the furniture should be something that are easy to open and close, as you will be opening and closing them every day and want a good quality and feel in the roll of the drawer.
Second, determine what bedroom furniture you really want to keep and what you will be willing to let go. Some people have antique pieces or bedroom sets that are heirlooms and really would not want to part with that. Others may have odd pieces of furniture or cheaply made bedroom sets that need to be replaced. Look around your room and decide what you could really do without such as end tables, chests, dressers, mirrors, bed frames, armoires, pictures and decorations. Remember, you want to clear your room of as much clutter as possible.
