The type of paving stones that you purchase for your project will depend on the use it will have and of course budget. If you plan to use the dry-laid paving installation then the stones can be adjusted easily if you happen to make a mistake.
Usually the paving stones will be either rectangular or square but there are actually a large variety of different shapes and sizes. The most popular patterns that can be created with the square or rectangular shapes are the basket weave or the herringbone. By using either power or hand saws the stones can be made to fit exactly into patterns.
Interlocking – the interlocking paving stone is designed to join each connecting stone together to stop the other stones from shifting or moving. Most often the interlocking stones are manufactured in both concrete and cement to give a very hard-wearing and versatile construction. And due to not requiring mortar to lay these stones, they are considered to be the easiest to install. It is often a simple case of laying a sand base and joining each of the slabs together. These interlocking stones are perfect for the main driveways, walkways, or decking areas.
Limestone, slate, concrete, granite and sandstone are among the most common stone types used as paving components for landscaping initiatives. For instance, red brick paving stones are commonly used as patio pavers while concrete blocks arranged into geometrical patterns are popular as part of a driveway layout.
